わたしは いんぢあな (Indiana) の ぽたげ (Portage) からきもした。

I am from about an hour away in a small town called Portage, Indiana. I've lived here basically my entire life apart from my year abroad in Spain. It's a town where everybody knows everybody. Despite its size, I like living in Portage for the most part. One of the things I don't like about living here is that we have to drive everywhere! I know how to drive, but I personally prefer to be driven than to drive myself.

There isn't much to do frankly, but I kind of like that about it. When I'm home, I like to chill with my family and my dog. We have a super nice movie theater and a fun (but definitely sketchy) roller rink called R-way. When I was a kid, my grandma used to take us roller skating there and that was our Saturday afternoon activity.

My house has a trail behind it that leads to Willowcreek Park, which I frequented as a child as well. I liked the swings, and they have great slides too! Every now and then, especially in the summer if I'm home, I'll walk along the trail with my dog to visit the park.

My hometown is also only 15 minutes away from Lake Michigan, so in the summer I like to go to the beach with my siblings or my friends. Besides that beach, we also drive to the Dunes which is another state park. I used to have cross country practices there in high school, so now I just go there for walks with my mom in the mornings in the summer (ha, I barely run now).

I don't have many pictures of my hometown over all, but I do have some of times I've visited the beach. One time in high school my friend Michael and I went to the beach for senior ditch day hahaha. The other photo is from my freshman year of college when I was back for fall break and was taking a walk with my dog.

I don't think I'm going to live here for the rest of my life. I see myself moving to somewhere more diverse. I really like to eat lots of different kinds of foods, and Portage does not have those options unfortunately haha. We have several Mexican restaurants, but that's about it. South Bend actually has a lot more options food-wise.
